Staff

As Safe Harbor continues to grow, our staffing needs grow also. In the beginning, we had one employee and 2 volunteers. Today we have seven full-time employees and countless volunteers. All of our employees are born-again Christians who love the Lord and are faithful in their own churches.

Administration: The volunteer administration consists of the Director (Kimberly Piet ), Chief Financial Officer (Brian Burns), President and Pastoral Care (John Piet) and Supply Manager and General Advisor (Gloria Burns).

Center Head: Mrs. Wilhelm (“Jing”) Myers is just steps away from completing her Master’s degree in Psychology. She has been with S.H.I.P. since October of 2007, and serves as the general manager of the home handling human resources, networking, the home’s finances and many other jobs.

Social Worker: Jovita Mang-Usan is a licensed social worker and has been with us since March of 2008. Jovi is responsible for all matters of client case studies from the intake to the discharge. She handles all matters with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Inter-Country Adoption Board, the lawyers and the children’s schools. Jovi is sure to keep an eye on the children’s physical and emotional development and to address any needs that arise.

Nurse: Cristina Dacanay, our registered nurse, has been with us since January of 2008. Tina came to us with a heart for the children, denying higher-paying job opportunities to serve the Lord in this capacity. Though Tina also serves as one of our primary caregivers, her expertise in nursing allows her to focus on the children’s physical well being. She is responsible for all matters of the children’s health care and records maintenance.

House Parents: S.H.I.P. currently has one set of house parents, Jonathan and Mina Manaois. Jon and Mina live at S.H.I.P. with their son, Justin, and serve as the parent models for our children. Mina holds a degree in social work, and Jon is quite the handy man. They were previously with another children’s home which became a part of S.H.I.P. in April of 2008. As the resident parents, Jon and Mina serve as the “managing” caregivers, and are relied upon heavily in that capacity.

Housekeeper: Medie Bautista started at S.H.I.P. in August of 2009 as a full-time cook and housekeeper. She is trained in safe food handling and sanitation, and keeps our house as clean as possible so that our children remain healthy. She is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and also helps with the marketing. Occasionally, she even gives a hand to our caregivers.

Caregivers: S.H.I.P. also employs a sufficient number of caregivers according to the number of children that we are ministering to. The caregivers are responsible for the daily care and welfare of each of the clients. They bathe, dress and feed the children, as well as facilitate playtime, school activities, homework, discipline and all other matters of childcare. Our current caregivers are:

  • Jeanalyne Villalon, who came to us in June of 2009 as a full-time caregiver.
  • Sarah 'Joy' Tibio, who has been with SHIP since October of 2009 and became a full-time Caregiver in February, 2010.
  • Ging and Marie are volunteers (previously from Hope House children’s home) who take turns filling in on Sunday Mornings so all of our staff can attend their local churches and leave the infants (2 and under) at home. They also fill in when our staff takes days off or needs a break.
