Our Philosophy
"Then saith he unto his disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest." Matthew 9:37-38
Safe Harbor International Philippines Foundation, Inc. (S.H.I.P.) was born from the God-given desire to help the marginalized children of the Philippines. We believe that God has a special heart for children, and that each and every child has the right to belong to a loving family. Because that’s not the reality, God has given us the vision to help these abandoned, neglected, abused and orphaned children. We believe that with love, care and a good education, a child can grow up to love God, serve their own country and some day provide a loving and stable home for their own family.
Our Mission
"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." James 1:27
It is our mission to restore the spiritual, physical, emotional and social functioning of the abandoned, neglected, abused and orphaned children of the Philippines who are in crisis. It is our goal to help them towards family reunification when possible, or permanent placement into foster/adoptive homes when deemed appropriate.
Our Vision
"In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and His children shall have a place of refuge." Proverbs 14:26
It is the vision of Safe Harbor International Philippines Foundation, Inc. to help abandoned, neglected, abused and orphaned children in the Philippines; children who are living in extremely difficult or poor environments and have no family members willing or able to care for them. It is S.H.I.P.’s vision to provide these children with an environment that can give them not only the basic necessities of life, but also a loving permanent home when necessary, the positive influence of spiritual awareness, a positive self-worth, and the opportunity for a successful future. Each child that passes through our facility should leave knowing they are loved by God and those around them. They should have healthy minds and bodies, and the tools they need to help them succeed in the society in which they live.
God has currently provided us with a house to rent in Baguio City that will house about 20 children and one set of house parents. Because our space is very limited and there are so many children who need help, our long-term vision is to expand in a way that will allow us to touch many more lives. We are currently praying for the money to buy some land that will allow us to build a “village” for this growing ministry. Having several cottages would allow us to group the children by age, sex, and special needs in order to more effectively address each child’s specific needs. Separate cottages would also allow us to open our doors to juvenile offenders, unwed pregnant teens, and those with mild disabilities. As God provides, we will add a chapel, clinic, recreational facilities, and a school.
